The short version

Who we are

setmap is a strength training log for iPhone, made in Australia. In this policy, "setmap", "we" and "us" mean setmap, the maker of the app. If you have a question about your privacy, email support@dustbox.dev.

What the app stores

To be useful as a training log, setmap keeps the following on your device:

This data is saved in the app's private storage on your phone. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. We can't see your workouts, and we can't recover them for you.

If your phone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, the app's data may be included in that backup. Those backups are handled by Apple and covered by Apple's privacy policy.

What we collect

setmap doesn't ask for your name, email address, age, body weight or any other personal details. It contains no crash-reporting, advertising or tracking software, and it doesn't use the advertising identifier on your device.

Anonymous usage statistics

To learn which features are used and where the app can improve, setmap sends anonymous usage statistics to PostHog, an analytics service that stores them in the United States. They include:

Statistics are tied to a random identifier created when the app is installed, not to you, your device's advertising identifier or any account. They never include your workouts' contents: no exercise, template or workout names, weights, reps or notes. We don't record your screen or your taps, we don't use your location, and setmap's PostHog project is set not to store IP addresses. We don't sell this data or use it for advertising.

You can turn this off at any time in setmap under Settings → Share usage data. Nothing more is sent after that.

Apple may give developers aggregated, anonymous statistics such as download counts, and crash reports from people who have turned on Share with App Developers in their iPhone settings. That sharing is controlled by you and by Apple, not by setmap.

Permissions

Notifications

The first time you start a rest timer, setmap asks to send notifications. If you allow it, the app schedules a local "Rest over" alert on your phone so you know when to start your next set while the app is in the background. These notifications are created on the device itself. No push service is involved and nothing is sent to us. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Notifications → setmap.

Files

When you import a backup, setmap opens the system file picker and reads only the file you choose. It shows you a preview of what will be added and changes nothing until you confirm.

Sharing and exporting

Some features let you send data out of the app. Each one only happens when you tap it:

Wherever you send these, for example Messages, Mail, Files, AirDrop or a social app, they are then handled under that service's terms and privacy policy. Export files may contain your full training history, so share them with care.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays on your phone until you remove it. You can delete individual workouts and templates in the app. To erase everything, delete the setmap app. This removes all of its data from your phone, though copies may remain in older device backups or in any exports you've made. If you want to keep your history first, export a backup.

This website

This website (setmap.dustbox.dev) doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and browser types, to deliver and secure the site. The site also loads fonts from Google Fonts and open-source code libraries from a public content delivery network (unpkg.com), which receive your IP address when your browser requests those files.

If you email us, we'll use your email address and message only to reply to you. We won't add you to a mailing list or share your details.

Children

setmap is not directed at children under 13. Because the app collects no personal information, only anonymous usage statistics, it doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the Australian Privacy Act, the GDPR or US state privacy laws may give you rights to access, correct or delete your personal information. Because we don't collect or hold any personal information through the app (usage statistics are anonymous and you can turn them off), all of your setmap data is already under your control on your device. If you've emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, just ask.

Changes to this policy

If we change how setmap handles data, for example by adding an optional sync feature, we'll update this policy and the date at the top before the change takes effect. If a change is significant, we'll also let you know in the app.
